Monster

Recently, I went over a Christian woman's house and I brought along the book Monster by Frank E. Peretti that I had just purchased.

One of the people who lived there asked if the book was any good. I told them that I hadn't read the book yet, but that I had read the author's previous books and that he writes good Christian horror books.

“Monster,” they said. “Yeah, all Christians are monsters.”

Now, I could have responded to them about their religion and all of the things that HE alone has done while being a member of that religion, but I didn't because I didn't have to.

I was not going to argue with someone who thinks Christians are “Monsters”, but yet they live in a Christian household because they don't have anywhere else to go. In other words, a Christian took them in.

They were looking for a fight, but I was not going to give them the satisfaction. They weren't happy and it wasn't about me being a Christian, it was about their life and how they wasted it making stupid decisions and bad choices. And when I didn't respond to them like they wanted they never bothered me or said anything else about Christians again.

I think of Luke 10:5-6 which says, “But whatever house you enter, first say, 'Peace to this house'. And if the son of peace is there, your peace will rest on it; if not, it will return to you.”
The son of peace was in that house and never once did I think about leaving.
